Training Golden Eagles for falconry.

The purpose of this site is to share my experiences of the Golden Eagles that have been a large part of my life, with anyone who may be interested.

From my early days as a young boy flying my first male golden eagle above the wind batted cliffs of my home island of Jersey in the Channel Islands, I had always been in awe of the eagle masters of Central Asian history.

Three decades later I was to live and ride with the “berkutchi” in the Kyrgyz Tien Shan and Mongolian Altai mountains.

Within this site you will find many articles I have written for a number of different falconry publications of my personal experiences flying my own Golden Eagles and my adventures in Central Asia.

The Popular addition is the Photo Gallery, this is not just a small collection of odd snapshot photos, but over one hundred images in numerous chapters all with a short story. The chapters cover
My Eagles, My Goshawks, My Hunting Dog, and my adventures in America, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan and China.

Now with the new addition on Manchian Falconry in a sub-chapter in the China Gallery, this PhotoGallery now contains 174 photo page essays. Possible the biggest falconry image gallery on the net.

The Photo Gallery is a place to drop into time and time again as I defy anyone to read it all in one sitting.

may your wings enjoy the wind,

Alan Gates.

UNESCO FalconryUNESCO declares falconry to be a living cultural heritage.

If you are a returning visitor to this site then I hope you will notice that I have been tidying things up.
This site grew so fast that it raced ahead of my knowledge of code, so having learnt a little along the way it was time to get my head down.

This site is now hosted on its own web space, the previous site will remain for the time being.

I am pleased to note that my good friend Vadim Gorbatov the world famous wildlife artist has sent me many more of his paintings to include in his gallery of wildlife art.
His falconry gallery continues to be very popular, and we can supply prints from stock. Prints from the wildlife gallery are to special order from Moscow and usually take a few weeks.

I hope you enjoy the extra falconry articles and pictures in the biggest falconry gallery on the internet.

More additional content will be added as time allows, so please keep returning, and if you enjoy the site - drop me a line.

A new addition is a Golden Eagle falconry book page, here I will recommend books I have read and enjoyed.

Falconry Club and Field meets have been celebrated with the minting of metal badges or pins for many decades. I have just created a page to illustrate a few of the ones I have collected over the years. I am always interested in any views or extra information that readers may want to offer.
