Golden Eagles nest

In the western United States Golden Eagles are quite numerous and on the whole are not that shy of humans.
It is not unusual to spot one perched on a road side electric pole looking out for food. Something that would be very unusual in the highlands of Scotland here in the U.K.

It was to meet the great Morlan Nelson that first interested me to make my initial visit the U.S. Whilst I was there Morley and I visited a good number of eagle eyries both in the Snake River Canyon and also in the surrounding areas. Many eyries were in difficult positions but many, like this one were in ridiculously easy locations.
I found a similar situation when I was locating eyries in the Scottish highlands, some were built on sheer faces and others were walk-in locations.
